SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Two suspects who San Francisco police said robbed a business at gunpoint near the Laurel Heights neighborhood on Thursday were found by officers in possession of an assault rifle and arrested, authorities announced Tuesday.
The San Francisco Police Department responded at 6:48 p.m. to the 2600 block of Geary Boulevard on the report of an armed robbery at a business. Arriving officers learned two suspects stole merchandise before fleeing the area in a vehicle.
On Friday, police investigators identified 34-year-old Joseph Baus and 49-year-old Matthew Rabbitt as suspects in the armed robbery. The suspect vehicle used to flee the scene was located in the area of 16th Street and Potrero Avenue. SFPD’s Citywide Plainclothes Team began surveillance of the vehicle and identified two of its three occupants as Baus and Rabbitt, police said.
Officers took action to disable the vehicle, after which the three suspects fled on foot, according to SFPD. All three were taken into custody following a pursuit.
An assault rifle and a loaded magazine were discovered in the suspect vehicle, police said, along with additional evidence.

Baus and Rabbitt were arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail on charges of:
- Robbery
- Possession of an assault weapon
- Felon in possession of a firearm
- Possession of a silencer
- Possession of ammunition
- False imprisonment
- Conspiracy
Rabbitt faces additional charges of possession of methamphetamine and having a controlled substance while armed.
The third person who fled from the suspect vehicle was identified by police as Danielle Edwards, 43, of San Francisco. Edwards was charged with resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant.
No injuries were reported in the armed robbery incident.
