BASEBALL TOP 25

1. Huntington Beach: The Oilers are No. 2 behind Corona in the Prep Baseball Report state rankings. The Oilers feature several top prospects like seniors Trevor Goldenetz, Trent Grindlinger and Ethan Porter. They open the season Wednesday at home against state No. 7 Harvard-Westlake.
2. Santa Margarita 4-0: Junior Brody Schumaker, All-County first team last season, has driven in two runs and senior right-hander Brennan Bauer has pitched four hitless and scoreless innings.
3. Orange Lutheran 3-1: Josiah Hartshorn is batting .333 with a home run and four RBIs and pitcher Colt Peterson is 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 10 innings.
4. JSerra 3-1: Junior lefty Otto Grahamm has pitched seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. Senior right-hander Max Reimers has 12 strikeouts in 7.2 innings, and senior Jordan Marian is batting .600.
5. Mater Dei 5-0: Sebastian Navarro and Ausin Gerken have led the Monarchs offense and the deep pitching staff has been anchored by Brandon Thomas, Landon Gordon, Jackson Campbell and Kai Bratton.
6. Cypress 2-3: The Centurions, who are playing a rugged schedule, have a loss to Harvard-Westlake and a 1-0 win over Villa Park. They have received strong performances from senior pitcher Aiden Franco (1.00 ERA over 6.2 innings) and sophomore infielder Gary Hennessy (batting .375).
7. Foothill 5-1: Senior right-hander Gavin Lauridsen has allowed only one run and five hits with 23 strikeouts in 16 innings. Sean Green is batting .500 with three doubles and six RBIs.
8. Villa Park 5-0: The Spartans won the Loara Tournament with a 15-7 win over El Dorado in the tournament championship game. Senior Jake Nobles was named tournament MVP. Gunner Santillo is hitting .643, Nate Lewis is hitting with nine RBIs and Aidan Young is batting .583.
9. Servite 3-1: The Friars, led by outfielders Avery Jones and Miles Scott, went 3-1 in the SoCal Showcase tournament. They had notable wins over Ayala and Great Oak.
10. Los Alamitos 5-1: Senior Sean Kassawara has a 1.17 ERA and seven strikeouts in 12 innings and Sutton Deninno is batting .667 with four RBIs.
