Man allegedly threatens people with wine bottle, attacks car in Santa Rosa

(BCN) — Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man over the weekend for an alleged attempted kidnapping, according to authorities.

The sheriff’s office received a call at 9:42 a.m. Sunday about a man yelling at people in a parking lot in the 4000 block of Santa Rosa Avenue in Santa Rosa.

Deputies learned about ten minutes later that a man with the same description was allegedly trying to break the window of a woman’s car while she was in it.

The suspect was later identified as James Boyden, 53, a transient.

Four minutes after the second call, a deputy allegedly found Boyden walking on Santa Rosa Avenue with a bottle of wine and nabbed him for allegedly violating his probation by drinking alcohol.

The deputy learned Boyden allegedly walked up to two people in a car waving a broken wine bottle, then walked over to the woman in a second car, still holding the broken wine bottle.

Boyden reportedly yelled at her to get out of her car and threatened her while punching the car’s window. He then tried to open the driver’s door, but it was locked, and she drove away.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of making felony criminal threats, felony attempted kidnapping, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and violation of probation.

Boyden is currently in custody in place of $101,000 bail, according to authorities.
