The rapidly spreading Palisades Fire has quickly consumed over 200 acres since erupting around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in L.A.’s Pacific Palisades neighborhood.
An extreme Santa Ana wind event is fueling the fire; wind speeds are expected to reach up to 100 miles per hour in some parts of Southern California, and the National Weather Service has described the wind as “life-threatening.”

A smaller wind-fueled blaze was reported in the Santa Ana Riverbed in Colton around 5 a.m. Tuesday but was quickly extinguished. On the other hand, mountain communities woke up to snow on Tuesday morning, and further inland, drivers had to navigate slick roads due to rainfall.
The combination of weather patterns caused KTLA 5 meteorologist Henry DiCarlo to state Tuesday morning: “This is a rather bizarre forecast.”
