Quincy Jones’ cause of death revealed

Quincy Jones’ cause of death has been revealed.

The music icon passed away from pancreatic cancer, according to his death certificate obtained by CNN. No other contributing factors were listed, but it was noted that Jones had been battling cancer for years.

The multi-talented music titan passed away at 91 on Nov. 3 at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles, while surrounded by his family.

Jones is survived by his seven children, including actress Rashida Jones of “Parks and Recreation” fame. She honored her father in a post on Instagram shortly after his death.

“My dad was nocturnal his whole adult life. He kept ‘jazz hours’ starting in high school and never looked back. When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to search for him. Undoubtedly, he would be somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music). He would never send me back to bed. He would smile and bring me into his arms while he continued to work…there was no safer place in the world for me,” she revealed.

She went on to call her father “a giant. An icon. A culture shifter. A genius.”

“All accurate descriptions of my father but his music (and ALL of his work) was a channel for his love. He WAS love. He made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen. That’s his legacy,” she continued.

“I was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity. I’ll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.”

He was laid to rest in a private ceremony in L.A. a week after his passing. His family plans to hold a public memorial at a later time.

His family did not reveal the cemetery where the ceremony took place.

In lieu of flowers, Jones’ family asks for donations to the Jazz Foundation of America.
