(KRON) — A San Francisco man was arrested on gun and drug charges after Santa Rosa police checked the license plates of the vehicle he was sitting in, determining them to be stolen, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD).
On Thursday at around 5:08 p.m., Santa Rosa officers noticed a “suspicious vehicle” parked on the 1400 block of Santa Rosa Avenue, SRPD said. Police ran the plates and learned that they had been reported stolen. The owner and occupant of the vehicle, identified as Michael James Coe, 39, of San Francisco, was detained by officers.
Inside the vehicle, Santa Rosa police located a loaded 45-caliber Desert Eagle semi-automatic handgun and a “useable amount” of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, SRPD said.

Coe was arrested for:
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm in a Vehicle
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm in a Public Place
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with a Firearm
- Felon in Possession of Ammunition
- Possession of Stolen Property
Coe was subsequently booked into the Sonoma County Correctional Facility.
