Here’s how the Harris/Trump vote broke down in Bay Area counties

(KRON) — While Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential bid on Tuesday night, the Bay Area unsurprisingly threw its support behind Harris. However, some local counties were more ready to vote for Harris than others.

Here is how the nine Bay Area counties voted in the presidential election:

  • San Francisco: 79.7% Harris, 16.8% Trump, 3.6% other
  • Alameda: 71.6% Harris, 24.9% Trump, 3.5% other
  • San Mateo: 72.4% Harris, 24.9% Trump, 2.7% other
  • Santa Clara: 66.8% Harris, 30.2% Trump, 3.1% other
  • Contra Costa: 67.1% Harris, 30.1% Trump, 2.8% other
  • Marin: 79.6% Harris, 18.3% Trump, 2.1% other
  • Sonoma: 72.3% Harris, 25.2% Trump, 2.6% other
  • Solano: 59.5% Harris, 38.1% Trump, 2.4% other
  • Napa: 64.3% Harris, 33.5% Trump, 2.2% other

All nine counties saw more residents vote for Trump in 2024 than in 2020. Trump gained between 2-8% of the vote in each county.

The county with the largest increase was Alameda, which had just 17.7% of voters opt for Trump in 2020.

In the U.S. Senate race this year between Democrat Adam Schiff and Republican Steve Garvey, all Bay Area counties opted for the Democratic candidate as well. Garvey received a slightly higher share of votes than Trump in all nine.

Harris won California with 57.3% of the vote, compared to just 40.1% for Trump, but Trump did win more than half of the state’s counties:

  • Orange
  • Riverside
  • San Bernardino
  • Kern
  • Inyo
  • Tulare
  • Kings
  • Fresno
  • Madera
  • Mariposa
  • Merced
  • Tuolumne
  • Stanislaus
  • San Joaquin
  • Calaveras
  • Amador
  • El Dorado
  • Placer
  • Sierra
  • Yuba
  • Sutter
  • Colusa
  • Plumas
  • Butte
  • Glenn
  • Tehama
  • Lassen
  • Shasta
  • Trinity
  • Del Notre
  • Modoc
  • Siskiyou

Trump had the highest percentage of votes in Lassen County, with 73.7%. Five of the six counties that voted more than 70% Harris were in the Bay Area, with the other being Santa Cruz.
