With many of the world’s best theme parks in our backyard, it’s no surprise that Southern California is also home to some of the most elaborate and immersive Halloween experiences this time of year.
From big-budget (and pricey) haunted houses to kid-friendly mazes and everything in between, chills, thrills and frights abound in SoCal.
Knott’s Scary Farm, located at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, is celebrating another year of frights with haunted mazes, scare zones, and immersive live shows. As one of the longest-running Halloween events in the region, it offers over a dozen mazes, themed thrill rides, and creepy entertainment through Halloween night.
Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights continues its tradition of horror with mazes inspired by iconic films such as A Quiet Place, Insidious, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Known for its scare factor, the event also features the renowned Terror Tram and roaming scare actors, drawing horror fans through early November.

Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest in Valencia delivers intense scares with haunted mazes, fright-filled scare zones, and nighttime roller coaster rides. This event, which runs through October, caters to thrill-seekers who love coasters and creepy characters.
Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort brings festive, family-friendly fun to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, with seasonal decorations, Halloween-themed rides and attractions, and special food offerings from early September through October. Highlights include the transformation of Haunted Mansion, spooky overlays on popular rides, and the separate-ticket Oogie Boogie Bash, which features Disney villains, immersive treat trails, and a themed parade at Disney California Adventure.
At SeaWorld San Diego, Howl-O-Scream is an annual Halloween event offering a more intense, fright-filled experience with haunted houses, scare zones, and live shows. Held on select nights from late September through October, the event features roaming scare actors, themed horror attractions, and night rides, catering to adults and teens looking for a scarier Halloween experience.
LEGOLAND’s Brick-or-Treat celebration brings family-friendly Halloween fun on select nights in September and October. The event features trick-or-treating, costume contests, and seasonal shows. It also includes interactive treat trails, dance parties, and meet-and-greets with LEGO characters in Halloween costumes, offering a playful, non-scary experience for younger guests.
