1. ExperTec Automotive
Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach; expertecautomotive.com
Seven years running as one of Best of OC’s top auto repair poll winners shows ExperTec Automotive has a growing list of fans.
Between its three family owned locations, it has built a reputation for quality and great customer service for its general repair services on pretty much any make or model of car, on anything under the hood and right down to the tires. Its service also includes fleet vehicles, classic cars and hot rods, and even hybrids.
The shop also provides financing options for people who need repairs now, but might not have the money to get them done otherwise.
And it’s not just quality service that customers seem to like, it’s also the way they’re treated by ExperTec staff that makes them sing their praises.
“Trustworthy,” “honest” and “capable” are the words a lot of Yelp reviews used. But also “very pleasant,” “very friendly” and “very good at explaining” read others.
One customer said he was “thoroughly impressed by their professional and friendly service,” and he praised “their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction” and “highly recommend for anyone seeking reliable and efficient automotive services.”
Auto care site RepairPal.com gave ExperTec 4.3 out of 5 stars with reviews like “This is the best repair shop we have ever worked with” and “Helpful courteous attitude. Reliable and best of all HONEST.”

2. Britton’s Automotive, Huntington Beach
17242 Gothard St., Suite C, Huntington Beach; 714-841-5701; brittonsautomotive.com
Three decades is a long time to fix cars. It’s a lot of spark plugs, belts, hoses, rings, valves and seals. It’s a lot of dirt under the fingernails. And it’s just the way owner Bruce Britton likes it.
Britton has been fixing cars since he was a teen, and now as owner of Britton Automotive, he also likes helping people understand their cars, from Hondas to Hummers.
It’s a complete service shop, certified and licensed to make any engine repair from transmissions to tune-ups. Britton’s Automotive also repairs brakes, tires, suspension and axles.
For owners holding on to their older cars, Britton’s offers a 90,000-mile maintenance and timing belt replacement. For those considering buying a used car, Britton’s offers a bumper-to-bumper inspection service to help a potential new buyer evaluate the car. A VIP rewards program is also available.
3. Accu Auto Service
23253 Madero, A-104, Mission Viejo; 949-859-9637
When it comes to a low-profile and no-nonsense, but high-customer-satisfaction auto repair business, Mission Viejo’s Accu Auto Service is just about the very definition.
The shop offers general service on most makes and models including minor to major repairs and standard maintenance like oil changes. Accu Auto Service is closed on weekends, so if you need a repair or check, you’ll have to get it during the week.
Customers praise Accu Auto’s service — also its affordability plus lack of up-selling.
“Lovely experience, I will definitely be back. He and his guys deserve all the business they can get,” said Kelly K. on Yelp. Gregory M. added, “He will tell us when we need to have something done and when we don’t need to have something done — even if this means we pay him less for our service.”
