It’s not about who wins the “anti-surf contest surf contest” – but more about who has the most fun.
The Red Bull Foam Wreckers brought the wacky to the water on Saturday, Aug. 17, at T-Street in San Clemente with an event in which wave riders showcase their skills and their silly moves on Catch Surf’s foam boards, which have had a surge in popularity in recent years.
The competition is touted as “all about minimal rules and maximum fun.”
“It’s a celebration of surfing’s pure joy, camaraderie, and rebellion against the norm,” event organizers said.
The small surf event brought booths from various sponsors to the beach as families enjoyed the surf scene.
Catch Surf, a San Clemente company that launched its line of soft-top boards in 2007 and now has stores in Laguna Beach and Malibu, had team riders on hand to do autograph signings.
The Red Bull Foam Wreckers event series visits 14 surf breaks across the country, with the next stop in Honolulu.
