Two teen suspects were arrested after a stabbing near Burbank High School left two other teens hospitalized Friday.
Burbank police responded to the campus around 2:45 p.m. after receiving reports of an altercation involving several students.
Officers arrived at the scene and determined the stabbing occurred at the parking lot of a shopping plaza adjacent to the school. Both the victims and suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
A short time later, two 16-year-old boys were located at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, each with multiple stab wounds. They were treated and were last listed in stable condition.
Following an investigation, a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was found at an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Third Street.
Two teens were detained and later confirmed by witnesses as suspects in the stabbing. The suspects were only identified as a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both residents of Burbank.
They were arrested for attempted murder, with formal charges pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. There are reports that the suspects and victims are all students at the school, but police have not confirmed that detail.
A motive for the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Burbank Police Department’s Investigation Division at 818-238-3210.
