(KRON) — An argument spilled outside of a Palo Alto business and quickly turned violent Thursday night, leading to a man being stabbed multiple times, said the Palo Alto Police Department.
PAPD said a patrol officer was flagged down by the male victim at 11:34 p.m. on the 400 block of Ramona Street. The man, believed to be in his twenties, told police that he had gotten into an argument with the suspect while inside a business on the 400 block of Waverly Street.
“The argument continued outside where it became physical,” said Palo Alto PD in a statement to KRON4. “During the altercation, the victim was stabbed multiple times. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.”
The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, identified as Diyar Polat, 36, of Palo Alto, was located by police nearby and detained without incident, Palo Alto police confirmed.
Polat was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted murder, said police.
