A pair of 37-year-old men from Victorville were arrested in connection with the burglary of a Metro PCS store in the High Desert late last week, authorities say.
Per a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department news release, Apple Valley Station deputies were dispatched to the business, located at 21520 Bear Valley Road, on reports of a burglary at 8:33 a.m. on Friday.
“Through investigation, it was determined that Marcus Barney Jr. gained entry to the business by breaking a window,” SBSD’s media release, issued Tuesday morning, states. “Barney stole approximately $23,000 worth of cash and merchandise that was secured in a locked metal box and fled the scene.”
Barney Jr. was quickly tracked down to a residence in Victorville with another man, identified as Paul Wright Jr. They were found to be in possession of the stolen cash and goods inside the home, SBSD said.
After being taken into custody without incident, the men, both 37, were booked into the High Desert Detention Center for possession of stolen property; Barney Jr. was also booked for robbery. They are both being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
The stolen merchandise was eventually returned to the business owner.
