(KRON) — Thieves were caught on video breaking into a San Jose liquor store early Monday morning. Hype Liquors was broken into around 5 a.m., according to an Instagram post by the business.
Video of the break-in (above) shows a group of thieves forcing entry into the store by tying a chain to the front door handles. The chain was tied to a black sedan that drove forward to break the door open.
A group of at least three masked thieves were seen blitzing into the liquor store. Video shows them stealing a cart full of items.
The break-in caused thousands of dollars in damage, the business said in a social media post.

“We’re a small business, just trying to survive — and something like this hurts more than people realize,” Hype Liquors wrote on Instagram.
KRON4 reached out to the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) for information about the break-in. The department was not able to provide more information in time for publication. SJPD said it will investigate the break-in further on Tuesday morning.
Hype Liquors is located in the southwestern part of San Jose at Stokes Street and Bascom Avenue. It is a short walk away from Del Mark High School.
