Man who fired at downtown crowd arrested in jail: San Rafael PD

(KRON) — San Rafael police said a man who allegedly fired gunshots at a crowd in front of a downtown business was arrested while in jail for an unrelated offense.

Haadi Bolourchi, 33, of San Rafael, was taken into custody at Marin County Jail on Friday and faces charges for attempted murder, said detectives.

Police said on Feb. 27, officers responded to the area of B and First streets after getting multiple reports from callers who “heard several gunshots being fired.” Upon arrival, officers located a man with a gunshot wound to his hand. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

San Rafael Police Department detectives said surveillance video revealed Bolourchi had walked to the scene, “hid near a corner of a fence line” then fired at the group of people, striking the one victim. It is not clear what led to the incident and police have not yet determined the connection between Bolourchi and the victim.

Police said Bolourchi had been booked at the Marin County Jail on March 14 for charges tied to a separate case where he violated the probation terms of a 2019 gun charge.
