(KRON) — A man was killed after being struck by a car in San Jose’s Canoas Garden neighborhood on Saturday night, according to authorities.
The San Jose Police Department responded at 10:16 p.m. to the area of Almaden Expressway and Ironwood Drive on the report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision. The pedestrian, who was identified as an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Crash investigators said a man driving a red 2009 Kia sedan was traveling southbound on Almaden when the car struck the man in the roadway. Police did not clarify if the pedestrian was walking within or outside of a crosswalk.
The man driving the Kia remained at the scene. Alcohol and drugs “did not appear to be a factor in the collision,” SJPD said.
The fatal crash marks the city’s fifth pedestrian death in 2025.
