(KRON) — One person was killed and another seriously injured Sunday after a rollover crash on Interstate 80 in Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP’s H-30 helicopter, which was already in the area, responded at 6:10 p.m. to the crash on I-80 at Red Top Road, authorities said. All lanes of the roadway were shut down.
“Due to the heavy traffic and the fact the accident had just happened, no EMS ground units were at the scene yet,” CHP said. The helicopter landed on the interstate and the crew initiated advanced life support on one person. That patient, who CHP said had major injuries, was airlifted to a local trauma center.
Another person involved in the rollover crash was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Further details on the crash and the identity of the deceased were not immediately released.
