This week’s Orange County high school baseball rankings.
Notable this week: No. 1 Huntington Beach opened Sunset League play with a 3-2 win over Fountain Valley. … The Oilers and two other teams in the Top 10 – Santa Margarita and Mater Dei — are undefeated. … El Dorado climbs to No. 8 after an impressive win over Cypress. … Fullerton rises to No. 10 after a 3-2 win over Villa Park.
ORANGE COUNTY BASEBALL TOP 25

1. Huntington Beach (2-0): The Oilers edged Fountain Valley 3-2 in a Sunset League opener for both teams. Huntington Beach is No. 6 in the MaxPreps national rankings and No. 2, behind Corona, in the Prep Baseball Report state rankings. The Oilers’ schedule gets busy this week, with two league games against Marina and a league game against Fountain Valley.

2. Santa Margarita (5-0): The Eagles did not play last week. They play three times this week: at Villa Park, at Damien and home against Los Osos. They are in the Boras Classic South tournament next week. Prep Baseball Report has Santa Margarita at No. 3 in its California rankings.

3. Orange Lutheran (4-1): The Lancers scored their second straight shutout Monday with a 9-0 win over Centennial of Corona. They are No. 9 in the PBR state rankings. Orange Lutheran plays in a tournament at Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas this week.

4. JSerra (3-1): The Lions did not play last week. They play two games against Cypress this week, on Wednesday at Cypress and Friday at home. They will co-host with Mater Dei the Boras Classic South tournament next week. JSerra is No. 24 in the PBR California rankings.

5. Mater Dei (6-0): The Monarchs were idle last week. They have outscored their opponents 41-8. Mater Dei has nonleague games this week against Murrieta Valley and Pacifica of Oxnard before opening against Ayala in the Boras Classic South tournament on March 25.

6. Cypress (4-4): The Centurions had a couple of one-run games in the Crestview League last week. They beat Foothill 6-5 in 10 innings on Landon Anderson’s RBI bunt and lost to El Dorado 3-2. Cypress plays JSerra twice this week.

7. Foothill (7-2): The Knights lost a tough one to Cypress 6-5 in a Crestview League game, then beat Don Lugo in a wild one 12-7.

8. El Dorado (7-2): The Golden Hawks beat Cypress 3-2 as Lorenzo Favala drove in two runs, Diego Gonzalez hit a solo home run and junior pitcher Julian Rodriguez allowed only one earned run over six innings.

9. Servite (7-1): The Friars have won five in a row including a 6-0 win over Dana Hills in which Talan Larson pitched a one-hitter. Servite also beat Tesoro 13-1 last week.

10. Fullerton (6-2-1): Miguel Velasquez homered and Declan Fitzgerald pitched six effective innings in a 3-2 win over Villa Park at Angel Stadium.
