SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — It was touted as a sign of a potential turnaround for San Francisco’s beleaguered mid-Market neighborhood. But now, less than a year after it opened, there are signs of trouble for Ikea’s Saluhall food hall.
One of the hall’s original lineup of vendors, vegan taqueria La Venganza, announced it would be closing its location inside the hall.
“Today we say goodbye to our San Francisco location at Saluhall,” the restaurant posted on Instagram. “I really wanted to see what a corporate Venganza would look like but honestly when I give up control I get dissatisfied in the result.”
The good news is that Taqueria La Venganza fans in the Bay Area will still be able to visit the Oakland location, which “kills it,” according to the Instagram post. The restaurant is also working on opening a Los Angeles location.
La Venganza was one of the initial plant-based food vendors to open at Saluhall. The food hall later expanded its offerings to include former smashburger pop-up, Smish Smash.
