(KRON) — The Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) said a threat posted on social media by a student’s father caused two schools to go into lockdown Monday morning. SCOE said the online threat is being handled by the Sheriff’s Office in an ongoing criminal investigation.
SCOE confirmed in a news release that all 220 students at Harmony Elementary School and Salmon Creek School are safe and reunited with their families.
The two schools share a campus in Occidental on the 1900 block of Bohemian Highway. They went into lockdown at 9:30 a.m. after the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office determined that the parent’s threat was credible. Sheriff deputies did not provide details on what led up to the threat or what the threat regarded.
SCOE said both schools plan to resume classes on Tuesday, and that it is working to support students and their families as they return to campus.
