SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Monday features mostly sunny skies while an active weather pattern is shaping up. The Bay Area’s next chance of rain is on late Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, periods of heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected, with high surf at the coast continuing into Thursday. Another disturbance will bring more widespread rainfall next weekend.
Wednesday night and Thursday, there is a chance of thunderstorms; small hail will be possible on Thursday.
Snow levels will drop late Wednesday into Thursday to 2,500–3,000 feet. Therefore, some snow will be possible over the higher peaks of the Bay Area.
North Bay peaks and coastal mountains will see 2–3 inches of rainfall by late Thursday, with 0.75–1.5 inches falling elsewhere across the Bay Area.
Impacts, in addition to precipitation, will be wind and temperatures. Winds will increase out of the south on Wednesday and remain gusty. Overnight lows will be cold Thursday night into Friday, and it is possible that a frost advisory will be posted across the interior.
After a brief break late Thursday, widespread precipitation returns Friday into next weekend as another weak atmospheric river takes aim at the Bay Area with yet more rain. Early estimates show similar rainfall totals as the midweek system.
