Fake Oakland Animal Services workers targeting residents with lost pets: ‘You should not pay’

(KRON) — Oakland Animal Services is warning residents about a new scam targeting people searching for their lost pets.

Scammers are posing as employees of OAS and demanding money to return missing animals, the shelter said.

Oakland Animal Services emphasized that it never asks for payment over the phone. If someone claiming to represent the shelter requests money online or over the phone, ‘it is a scam, and you should not pay,” the agency warned.
