(KRON) — Stephen Curry is unguardable 365 days a year, but he seems to rise to an even higher level on Feb. 27.
On Thursday, Curry erupted for a season-high 56 points in Orlando to lead the Warriors past the Magic. It is his third iconic performance that has happened on the same calendar day.
Curry’s famous 54-point performance in Madison Square Garden happened on Feb. 27, 2013. In what some consider his entry to NBA superstardom, Curry took the world’s most famous arena by storm, making 11 of 13 3-pointers against the New York Knicks.
Three years later, he drained one of the most famous jumpshots in NBA history in Oklahoma City. Curry pulled up from just inside half-court for his 12th 3-pointer of the night to win a classic against the Thunder, who still featured Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. He finished that night with 46 points.
Steph has played in eight games on Feb. 27 in his career. He’s averaging 34 points per game in those contests and has made 51 3-pointers.
Even before he ascended to stardom, a 22-year-old Curry went for 33 points and 11 rebounds on Feb. 27, 2011, though the Warriors lost a close game to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He hasn’t been perfect on the date. In 2017, he made just seven of 23 field goals in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. In 2024 against the Washington Wizards, he shot 6-21.
On Feb. 27, 2019, Curry was outshined by another NBA legend. Miami’s Dwayne Wade banked in a game-winning 3-pointer to beat the Warriors in his final NBA season.
Don’t expect to see Curry dazzle a Bay Area crowd on Feb. 27, however. All eight of his games on the date have come on the road.
