Corona del Mar home linked to Boot Barn founder Ken Meany seeks $15M

A hill-top Corona del Mar home linked to Boot Barn founder Ken Meany is on the market for just under $15 million.

Built in 2004, this 4,776-square-foot contemporary residence includes five bedrooms and five bathrooms. A picture window spans the width of the living room, framing 180-degree harbor views.

“(The house) offers an exceptional blend of luxury and coastal living, where every detail of this exquisite property has been thoughtfully designed to maximize comfort and breathtaking ocean views,” said Carter Kaufman of Compass, the co-listing agent. “It’s not just a home; it’s a lifestyle, perfectly situated in one of Orange County’s most sought-after neighborhoods.”

The property spans over a third of an acre in the Irvine Terrace neighborhood, where the median listing price for a home reached $10.6 million in January — up 38% from the same time last year, according to Realtor.com.

County records filed in September 2008 reveal that Meany and his wife, Pennie, bought the home for an undisclosed amount before placing it into a trust. In February 2021, a quitclaim deed viewed at PropertyShark.com indicated that Meany transferred ownership of the property to an investment holding LLC that he manages, as shown in fillings with the Secretary of State.

It’s unclear if the Meany family, which owns other properties, live there. But as the listing claims, “This impeccably maintained home, with no expense spared, is in pristine condition and has been meticulously cared for by the current owners.”

The front entrance features custom Honduran mahogany doors that open into a tropical courtyard garden and then into the main living area.

A floating fireplace extends through an octagonal skylight, flanked by two saltwater fish tanks that hold a total of 1,100 gallons. The dining room, with its suede walls, flows into the kitchen, equipped with custom mahogany cabinetry and high-end appliances, including two built-in Sub-Zero refrigerators.

Frameless glass doors with hand-carved mahogany handles shaped like dolphins — a nod to the coveted street the house is on — open to the backyard, which includes a custom zero-edge curved pool and spa, cooking area with a fire pit and steps to a gated access point on Bayside Drive for access to Balboa Island.

A glass wall also separates a private outdoor sitting area from the primary suite. It features a fireplace, a walk-in shower, a jetted tub, heated tile floors and a spacious walk-in closet.

A laundry room and an oversized two-car garage with a full sound system complete the property.

Zane Arcement of Compass shares the listing.

Meany founded Boot Barn in Huntington Beach in 1978. In 2007, he sold the company to a private equity firm. It has changed hands again since. Today, the specialty retailer known for Western and work-related footwear and apparel operates more than 420 stores in 46 states as well as an e-commerce business.
