“I was kind of a shy kid growing up so I drew a lot to sort of express myself and make connections with different kids,” said Michael Yates, co-creator of “Win or Lose.”

Yates emphasizes the importance of representation in animation, stating, “I really wanted to show experiences with my own life that I didn’t get to normally see in animation, like having multiple Black characters who are very different from each other.”
