(KRON) — Bay Area rap icon Too Short has been announced as the halftime entertainment for the Oakland Roots Soccer Club’s home opener next month. The Roots will play their 2025 season opener on Saturday, March 22 against San Antonio FC.
The match will be the team’s first to be played at the Oakland Coliseum, the Roots’ home ground for the season. Too Short is set to play a halftime set at what the Roots anticipate will be a record crowd to kick off their season at home.
“Everyone in Oakland, the Bay Area and the world know what Too Short means to the culture and to our city,” said Roots chief marketing officer Edreece Argahndiwal. “He is a physical and musical representation of Oakland to the world and has been for decades. When we started working on the home opener thematics we knew it had to feature this OG in the community.”
The Roots get their 2025 season underway on Saturday, March 8 when they will travel to Irvine to face Orange County SC in their USL League One season opener.
