SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — An Asiana Airlines flight was involved in an incident at San Francisco International Airport on Sunday, KRON4.com has confirmed. The flight, Asiana Airlines Flight 212, performed what is known as a “go-around” while landing at SFO after an air traffic controller alerted them that the aircraft had descended to a low altitude, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
A go-around is an aborted landing for an aircraft that is on final approach. The FAA said it was investigating the incident, which occurred around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The incident had apparent similarities to an Asiana flight that came into SFO low in 2013 and clipped a seawall, causing it to burst into flames. Three people were killed in that crash landing.
Thankfully, in Sunday’s incident, the plane landed safely with no injuries to anyone onboard.
