OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — A police officer was shot overnight in Oakland, according to KRON4 sources. A heavy police presence remains at the scene on 85th Avenue near G Street Monday morning.
The officer, according to sources, was shot in the knee. The scene remains active with several officers on the scene conducting an investigation.
According to KRON4 sources, a gunfight broke out between the officer and a suspect during a traffic stop. We’re told the officer who was shot was a female officer.
As of Monday, the officer remains in the ICU but is expected to be OK. There is no word yet on the suspect’s condition, but two ambulances were spotted at the scene.
Video obtained by KRON4 shows several officers at Highland Hospital. We’ve reached out to the Oakland Police Department to confirm exactly what happened. KRON4 News crews remain on the scene.
