SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco-based Zendesk is laying dozens of workers at its headquarters on Fremont Street. According to state filings with the Employment Development Department, the software-as-a-service (SAAS) provider is cutting 51 jobs.
These layoffs follow a 2023 round of layoffs in which the company cut its workforce by 8%. The layoffs are permanent, state filings indicate.
The Zendesk layoffs are the latest in an ongoing series of tech layoffs in the Bay Area and beyond. Earlier this month, Facebook parent company Meta began implementing layoffs as it looks to cut its workforce by 5%, primarily by targeting “low performers.”
Workday and Salesforce have also implemented layoffs this year as both companies have shifted resources toward AI.
