Dodgers pitcher hit in the head by 106 mph line drive

Baseball returned with a scary moment in the spring training opener for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday when pitcher Bobby Miller was struck in the head by a line drive.

The ball came off the bat of Chicago Cubs first baseman Michael Busch at 105.5 miles per hour, according to ESPN, and hit Miller square in the head.

He laid on the ground briefly before being treated by training staff. He walked off of the field in Glendale, Arizona, under his own power.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out. Really means a lot,” Miller posted to X, formerly Twitter. “Scary moment I’m good!”

The Dodgers placed Miller under concussion protocol. It’s unclear how much time he’ll miss.

“We’ll keep an eye on him tonight,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, per ESPN. “I don’t know what that means as far as going forward. Certainly, it’s somewhat of a setback. We’ve got to make sure he feels OK going forward.”
