(KRON) — Residents of a Benicia apartment building found a bullet hole in their ceiling that led to an investigation into the upstairs neighbors and an arrest, the Benicia Police Department announced Thursday.
The apartment residents discovered a bullet projectile in their home on Feb. 7 and alerted the police. A bullet hole was found in the ceiling, suggesting that the projectile came from the apartment above, Benicia PD said.
A search warrant was executed on Thursday for the upstairs apartment along with vehicles associated with the upstairs residents. One of the suspects allegedly made a confession that, along with an alert from K-9 Enzo, led officers to a handgun in a vehicle.
Police said the handgun was loaded and unregistered.
Demetrius Rashawn Killingsworth II, 32, was arrested for weapons violations.
There were no injuries related to the apartment shooting, Benicia PD said.
