A man died on Friday after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Irvine on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 3:34 p.m. at the intersection of Campus Drive and Turtle Rock Drive just outside of the UC Irvine campus, according to the Irvine Police Department.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers and the Orange County Fire Authority discovered that the driver of a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox SUV was involved in a single-car collision. The driver, identified only as an adult male, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
His identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Investigations revealed that the man was driving southbound on Campus, toward Turtle Rock, when he struck a curb, causing the SUV to roll over. According to authorities, he was experiencing a medical emergency just before the crash.
No additional details were immediately made available.
