(KRON) — Two alleged bank robbers from Nevada are accused of attempting to kidnap a San Jose bank employee by posing as federal agents, according to a San Jose Police Department investigation announced Thursday.
Denzel Jones, 23, and Trashauna Outlaw, 21, both of Henderson, Nev., were identified as the suspects in a San Jose bank robbery scheme that took place late last year, police said.
Officers responded on Nov. 17, 2024, to a San Jose residence where a woman said that two unknown people impersonating federal agents approached her. The suspects told the woman, who is a bank employee, that she was being arrested for unknown crimes, SJPD said.
The bank employee refused to comply with the suspects and said she was suspicious of their claims. The two fled the area before officers arrived.
Detectives with SJPD’s Assaults Unit identified Jones and Outlaw as the primary suspects and determined that they intended to kidnap the woman to commit a bank robbery, according to police.
Both Jones and Outlaw are currently in custody at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas facing charges for multiple unrelated bank robberies committed in Nevada, SJPD said.
An arrest warrant was obtained in the San Jose case.
Police said that once the two are extradited back to California, they will be booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted kidnapping, impersonating a federal agent and invasion of privacy via electronic tracking.
