SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A peculiar incident last week in which three men stormed offices at San Francisco City Hall while claiming to work for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) remains under investigation, the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office said in an update Tuesday.
The three entered several City Hall offices at noon on Friday and demanded access to office computers, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities said the individuals, who were wearing Dogecoin cryptocurrency T-shirts and non-descriptive hats, handed a USB drive to office staff and told employees to upload information.
“The men were verbally aggressive, insulted staff, and were unable to produce any formal identification,” the sheriff’s office said.
City Hall employees refused their requests and called authorities. The three fled the building prior to the sheriff’s deputies arriving.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office said it did not believe the individuals were representatives from DOGE.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
