SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — KRON4 captured shocking video of a brazen robbery at a Walgreens in San Francisco.
The incident took place Thursday at the Walgreens on Market Street in the Castro/Duboce Triangle area.
In the video above, filmed by KRON4 news anchor Dan Thorn, a masked man is seen being tracked by store employees and a security guard as he hurriedly walks to the exit with a large bag allegedly filled with store merchandise. Thorn, who happened to be shopping there at the time, said he saw the suspect stuff at least three Valentine’s Day-themed teddy bears and beer into the bag. Thorn said he was alerted to the crime when he heard employees yelling and turned around just as the suspect was ripping items from the shelves.
A security guard is then shown in the clip attempting to corner the suspect before they push past the guard and leave.
Walgreens has been repeatedly targeted by theft in the Bay Area, prompting many locations to lock up merchandise to deter shoplifters. Last month, the company announced it would begin closing a dozen San Francisco locations starting in February.
KRON4 has reached out to the San Francisco Police Department for a statement but did not hear back at the time of this report.
