SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — With thousands of people expected to descend on San Francisco this weekend for the NBA All-Stars and Lunar New Year Parade, officials are urging people to leave their cars at home. To that end, the San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency has announced that Muni will be free on Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 16.
“Fares will be free citywide to help you get to the parade,” SFMTA said on its website. Although, SF’s iconic cable cars are excluded from the free service.
For those attending the parade, SFMTA is also adding two hours of free parking at the Portsmouth Square Garage at 733 Kearny Street in Chinatown. For those taking Muni to the parade, options include the J Church, K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View, and N Judah.
Those taking Muni to All-Star events at the Chase Center can take the T Third Street line, according to SFMTA. For a complete schedule of NBA All-Star 2025 events, visit our NBA All-Star 2025 content hub.
