(KRON) — A San Jose man called 911 on Monday afternoon to report a break-in at his residence, according to police. During a search for the intruder, officers said they located multiple illegal firearms in the home.
The San Jose Police Department responded at 1:18 p.m. to the 2200 block of Cottle Avenue after the resident called 911. Jacob Lafaver, 28, told officers that a man armed with a gun broke into his place, authorities said. Lafaver allegedly shot at the unknown man during the incident.
SJPD officers cleared the residence and did not locate anyone other than Lafaver. Police said it was determined that “there was never another armed male” and that Lafaver may have been hallucinating.
During the sweep of the home, officers found “multiple firearms including privately manufactured firearms, firearms which were reported stolen and firearms which had their serial numbers altered or removed,” SJPD said.

A search warrant was obtained, where further searching uncovered body armor, bomb making precursor materials, several submachine guns and suspected fentanyl, according to police.
Lafaver was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for firearms related charges and being in possession of explosive precursors.
