SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Retired Bay Area sports stars and other celebrities will participate in a pickleball tournament in San Francisco this weekend.
The Celebrity Pickleball Bash will be held at The Warfield, a music venue located at 982 Market St. Events will happen Saturday and Sunday afternoon, the same weekend that NBA All-Star Weekend will be in the Bay Area.
The celebrities announced include:
- Mario Lopez (TV host)
- Chris Mullin (Golden State Warriors legend)
- Terrell Owens (Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, Pro Football Hall of Famer)
- Brandi Chastain (Former Gold Medalist in Olympic women’s soccer, San Jose native)
- Hunter Pence (Former San Francisco Giants outfielder)
- Anthony Anderson (Actor and comedian)
- Jessie James Decker (Singer)
- Eric Decker (Former NFL wide receiver)
The tournament includes events on Saturday at 1 a.m. and Sunday at noon. Each day lasts about three hours.
Day One includes a single-elimination doubles tournament, and day two includes games featuring each team’s best players and skills challenges. Both days will have live music.
“We’re basically launching a new brand of pickleball,” said Ben Shapiro, who is hosting the tournament. “We’re combining celebrities and pro players. We’re building a pickleball tournament on stage at the Warfield Theater, and we’re going to be integrating music and entertainment. We’re calling it ‘Pickletainment.’”
Tickets for each day range from $38-$333 including fees.
