(KRON) — Some cell phone users in San Francisco received an emergency alert Monday afternoon. Phones sounded the emergency alert tone after a notification said that an endangered adult was missing.
However, once the link was clicked, it initially took the user to a webpage that contained a “404 error.” Minutes later, the link in the Silver Alert took the user to an X post by Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane), which said “did they just push a 404 link to everyone????”

Wong is listed as a security researcher and is on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list. She has more than 166,000 followers on X.
KRON4 first reached out to the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management and was told to contact California Highway Patrol.
CHP confirmed there was a Silver Alert issued and said to contact the National Park Service’s San Francisco office. We are waiting to hear back from the federal agency.
