(KRON) — The San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) said a swimmer in distress was rescued by a boat in the San Francisco Bay on Saturday evening.
According to SFFD, the person was swimming between Alcatraz Island and Pier 45 when San Francisco Fire rescue boats responded to the distress call.
It is unclear what led to the incident, and the person’s condition has not been released.
SFFD added on X, formerly Twitter, “This is a reminder – if you call 911, stay on the phone until the dispatcher gives you the OK to hang up.”
