(KRON) — One suspect allegedly linked to a San Carlos consignment store smash-and-grab was arrested Tuesday after a months-long investigation, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
The robbery occurred on the afternoon of Sept. 25, 2024, at Home Consignment Center, located at 1123 Industrial Road. During the incident, authorities said three suspects smashed the doors of the opened business before running to the jewelry department and using hammers to break jewelry cases. The suspects fled the area with approximately $56,000 in stolen jewelry.
One of the suspects in the smash-and-grab, Tyrone T. Hill, 18, of Oakland, was identified following months of investigation, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities said the casework was assisted by the Milpitas Police Department, which was working on a similar incident.
On Tuesday, Hill was detained by sheriff’s office deputies along with the Oakland Housing Authority Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Through the execution of a search warrant, investigators located evidence linking Hill to the San Carlos robbery, according to authorities.
Hill was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility for robbery, burglary and grand theft.

Two other Home Consignment Center locations in San Rafael and Danville were also targeted in robberies in September 2024. No arrests in those incidents were announced at the time.
