SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Two San Francisco Police Department officers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after an unprovoked attack on Tuesday, SFPD said.
The attack happened at about 3:56 p.m. The suspect opened an SFPD car’s driver’s side door and assaulted both officers near O’Farrell and Polk streets, police said.
Multiple units responded to the scene, and officers detained the suspect.
“An unprovoked attack like this on our officers is unacceptable, and the SFPD will do everything within our power to hold this perpetrator accountable,” said SFPD chief Bill Scott.
SFPD did not release the suspect’s name. Charges are pending.
