(KRON) – The Fairfield Police Department and California Highway Patrol collaborated to arrest a burglary suspect, the department announced Monday.
At 12:43 a.m. on Jan. 27, Fairfield police officers responded to a maintenance yard in the 3200 block of North Texas Street. According to police, two individuals were caught on camera entering the closed lot.
The two subjects fled on foot, running along eastbound Interstate 80 after seeing the drone that Fairfield PD deployed. The duo subsequently noticed a marked police unit on the freeway and ran west of I-80, crossing ongoing traffic, according to police.
California Highway Patrol Air Operations arrived on the scene and guided officers to one of the suspects’ locations. Police nabbed 37-year-old Gilberto Lopez.
Lopez was arrested and booked into a county jail for burglary and possession of burglary tools charges. According to Fairfield PD, he also had multiple warrants.
Police did not specify if the other suspect is still at large.
