SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) said an Ingleside District business targeted in a high number of shoplifting incidents was the site of retail theft abatement enforcement operations that led to the detainment of eight people.
San Francisco police said uniformed and plainclothes officers from its Ingleside Station conducted the pre-planned sting Tuesday at the business located on the 3300 block of Mission Street.
Police confirmed eight individuals were arrested for organized retail crime and petty theft. Seven suspects were cited and released at the scene for shoplifting. The remaining suspect was booked at San Francisco County Jail for outstanding warrants plus the on-view theft charge.
Police said the stolen goods were returned to the stores. San Franciso PD said in a news release that “these operations have had a huge impact on the retail stores in the Ingleside District.”
Despite the arrests, SF police said these are open and active investigations. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, starting the message with “SFPD.”
The San Francisco Police Department said any impacted business that wants to take part in an organized retail crime operation can reach out to sfpd.retailtheft@sfgov.org.
