(KRON) – It’s officially February, which is the month of love.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, U.S. News & World Report listed the best romantic getaways in the U.S., and two Bay Area locations made the top five.
It’s no surprise that the Napa Valley was high on the list. A major factor in this valley coming in at No. 3 is the surplus of wine. Napa Valley has more than 400 wineries and over 90 tasting rooms, per Visit Napa Valley’s website. According to U.S. News, both wine connoisseurs and amateurs can enjoy Napa.
To celebrate Cupid’s month, couples can choose from more than 150 restaurants. Over a dozen of the restaurants are Michelin-rated.
Napa also has plenty of activities bike tours, ballooning, arts and culture and more.
So there’s a theme here. Earning in the fifth spot on the list is Sonoma County with an emphasis on you guessed it– wine. According to the report, Sonoma is a “laid-back introduction to stellar vintages and gorgeous properties” compared to Napa.
U.S. News mentions the city of Santa Rosa for an “urban escape, complete with museums and buzzy restaurants.”
If you think long walks on the beach are romantic, Sonoma County has more than 55 miles of shoreline. Couples can also enjoy hikes, camping and picnics.
According to Sonoma County’s website, there are many romantic activities, including wine tours, spas, boating, ballooning and more.
