(KRON) — The Vallejo City Council said it will hold a special community workshop to address concerns from residents about public safety in the wake of recent crimes in Vallejo.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Vallejo Room, located at 505 Santa Clara Street.
The forum will listen to community feedback, aim to find proactive solutions, and provide direction on next steps.
“The City Council and community have voiced their concerns over recent crimes in Vallejo,” said Vallejo City Manager Andrew Murray. “Our hearts go out to the innocent victims and their families. At the special meeting Tuesday, staff will work with the city council and community on finding solutions to combatting crime and provide information on youth programs and agencies that are collaborating to help build a safer Vallejo.”
In recent weeks, Vallejo has been in local headlines for a series of incidents, involving a mass copper theft at a school where its electricity systems were “severely damaged” and cancelled classes, and news the California Highway Patrol would join Vallejo police to take on an uptick of sideshows and dangerous drivers. Last Thursday, a food truck owner was shot at point-blank range outside Omayh Food Mart and Liquor in Vallejo, leaving him hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Those interested in joining the workshop can find details here.
