(KRON) — The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said a search warrant tied to an ongoing auto theft and chop shop investigation led to four arrests on Friday.
Deputies said the search warrant operation took place in the 800 block of 100th Avenue in Oakland. The four suspects taken into custody face various felony charges, including one for homicide.
Authorities said the case, which began in early January, involved a joint force of detectives from the Eden Township Substation, the Alameda County Auto Theft Task Force, and the Sheriff’s Special Response Unit.
Deputies seized “eight stolen vehicles, including a gasoline tanker semi-truck. One stolen vehicle was also illegally outfitted with red and blue police lights.”
Authorities said “stolen license plates, burglary tools, a large quantity of ammunition, two sets of body armor, and a firearm” were also recovered.
Deputies said the investigation highlights their commitment to fighting auto theft and organized crime in Alameda County.
