SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A San Francisco dispensary owner is recovering after being shot seven times on Monday night.
Martin Olive, owner of the “Vapor Room,” was working at his business on Ninth and Mission in the South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood when a gunman opened fire. Police responded and found Olive being treated for gunshot wounds before transporting him to a hospital.
Police said the suspect was found in a nearby building. After failing to comply with orders to surrender, the suspect was fatally shot by police. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Olive’s business partner, Gordon, described the event as traumatic but expressed gratitude that Olive survived. “It is an incredible miracle that he’s alive and it’s an incredible miracle that he should have a full recovery,” she said. “I’ve never heard the story of someone being shot seven times and surviving. This is an incredibly, resilient human being.”
Olive is no longer in the ICU, but the Vapor Room is closed indefinitely, with Gordon considering moving out of the neighborhood. Gordon is also urging people to donate to Olive’s GoFundMe to support his recovery.
The San Francisco Police Department will hold a virtual town hall on the incident next Tuesday at 3 p.m. Police also encourage anyone with information to contact the SFPD tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text “SFPD” to TIP411.
