(KRON) — An argument between friends turned deadly in Santa Rosa over the weekend, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD). One man was shot to death and another man was stabbed in the leg during the incident.
Police responded Saturday at 9:24 p.m. to a residence on the 4300 block of Hoen Avenue after receiving a 911 call reporting a disturbance. Arriving officers located one man with a stab wound to the leg and another man who was unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the neck, authorities said.
The man suffering from a stab wound was transported to a local hospital. The gunshot victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation determined that the two men were friends and had gotten into an argument that turned physical, SRPD said. The resident of the home, 23-year-old Devin McKenzie, then allegedly shot his 20-year-old friend at least once. The suspected gunman was stabbed during the altercation.
Santa Rosa police detectives recovered a firearm and a knife from the scene.
McKenzie was treated and released from the hospital before being arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for homicide. He is currently being held without bail, police said.
The identity of the deceased 20-year-old man was not released. The fatal shooting remains under investigation.
