(KRON) – One firearm with two loaded magazines was found after a car collided with a fire hydrant, the Hercules Police Department announced on Monday.
Hercules police officers responded to a car crash on John Muir Parkway. According to police, the driver crashed into a fire hydrant.
Responding officers were informed by a witness that the driver was walking toward a Safeway. The officers located a man, identified as an Oakland resident, who ignored officers and then a foot chase ensued, according to Hercules PD.
Hercules PD said that to detain the subject safely, the officer deployed a Taser.
Police said another short snuggle ensued and a pistol magazine loaded with .357 ammunition fell onto the ground shattering into pieces. Officers also said they found an unregistered Glock 33 with another loaded magazine was found in the suspect’s cross-body bag.
The Oakland resident was detained after the struggle. The suspect, according to police, smelled of alcohol.
The suspect was arrested and booked into Martinez Detention Facility on DUI and weapons charges.
